Cargo transportation on the Mississippi River forms the basis for the commercial infrastructure of the United States. This conveyor belt of sorts powers the global economy yet it remains a secret to so many.

Our geographical location helps to create the largest port system in the world. Right here in Louisiana we transport more grain and energy products than any other place in the nation.

SOYBEAN & CORN EXPORT

The lower Mississippi River is the number one export region for America’s soybean and corn farmers. This is one of many reasons we work non-stop around the clock.

IMPORT AND EXPORT BUSINESS ACCOUNTS FOR 40% OF LOUISIANA'S GDP.

DEEPENING THE RIVER

The import and export business accounts for 40% of Louisiana’s GDP. Deepening the river to 50 feet welcomes larger vessels to Louisiana ports. Increasing cargo capacity ensures Louisiana will continue to dominate in world trade just as it has for centuries.

GRAIN EXPORTS BOOM

60% of the nation’s grain ships through Louisiana’s port system. Enhancing the Mississippi River simultaneously enhances the competitiveness and profitability of American agriculture. More capacity means greater efficiency and less costs for our Nation’s producers.

CRUISE SHIP.PNG

WE ARE COMMITTED TO MAKING LOUISIANA THE BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD FOR CRUISE COMPANIES TO DO BUSINESS.

2019 was a record year with 1.2 million cruise passengers making New Orleans one of the most viable ports in the country.  We worked around the clock to make this possible by minimizing fog and bad weather delays more than any other port. A cruise ship often has as many as 5,000 passengers and we consider them to be the most valuable cargo we move. Nothing matters more to us than keeping people safe. To move an everyday ship in blackout fog is already pressure packed, so you can only imagine the sense of responsibility we shoulder when we navigate 5,000 human lives up or down a dark narrow, curvy and ferocious river. These beautiful ships have immense value, therefore to protect them best we service them by asking two seasoned pilots to take the helm for added protection and expertise.

LSU'S 2018 ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDY ESTIMATED THAT CRUISE SHIP TRAFFIC AT PORT NOLA CONTRIBUTED MORE THAN $250 MILLION TO THE LOCAL ECONOMY.
